Hi, I’m Brea Burke—a proud wife to Pastor Matt Burke of The Altar in Glade Spring, Virginia, and a devoted mom to five wonderful kids: Gracie, Orlin, Ohana, Jessie-Olivia, and Owen. Family is at the heart of everything I do, and I’m deeply passionate about foster care and creating opportunities for family reunification. I aspire to launch a program that provides whole-family solutions, helping protect children and educate families on how to foster healthy, successful environments.
I serve as Chief of Internal Affairs and Inaugural Chair of CHAMPP and have worked with many legislators on policies and budgeting projects directly affecting Community Health workers.
Professionally, I was honored to be the first Community Health Worker in Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee, where I helped launch a pilot program that has grown into a thriving initiative. My journey led me to Healing Hands Health, where I have built and currently manage a successful Community Health Worker Program. I have a strong background in public health, and work tirelessly to create accessible health programs, advocate for underrepresented populations, and foster healthier communities
My experience spans organizing community health initiatives, managing outreach programs, and supporting individuals with tailored resources. I believe in the power of education, empathy, and collaboration to drive sustainable health improvements.
Through my work as a Community Health Worker, I discovered my passion for advocacy. I travel across the U.S. to speak at conferences, educating health systems, community organizations, and legislators about the vital role CHWs play in improving community health. I’ve had the privilege of speaking at the U.S. Capitol and participating in a White House roundtable, while also attending General Assembly sessions in Tennessee and Virginia whenever I can. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to collaborate or learn more about my work!
